![]() It can handle as many as 60 images (TIFF's) all together no problem with my old 32-bit XP system.whereas CS4/5 on 32 bit starts to puff n pant at only 15+ images. I do a lot of stacking, and to date.I've had the best results with Zerene Stacker. Please feel free to email regarding this or any other aspect of Zerene Stacker. Do not pass up a sudden opportunity to make a sale just because you have the wrong license! If you buy Personal and then start selling images in quantity or otherwise using the software for Professional activities, then just upgrade at your next convenient opportunity. Like all software licenses, staying compliant really comes down to the honor system. For larger volumes of sales, you'll need Professional to stay compliant, but that's a simple upgrade for the difference in purchase price and it applies to all previously generated images. If the sale is small enough, then it's allowed under the detailed terms of the Personal license. Regarding sale of photos, the licensing terms are not intended to present a problem. In our case, we can't afford to give it away for free to anybody, but the Student and Personal prices are a lot less than Professional. One feature that may not be immediately evident: a powerful retouching capability is provided at all levels of Zerene Stacker, but in Helicon Focus only in Pro.Ībout pricing, the policy for Zerene Stacker is similar in concept to many other software packages that are free for noncommercial purposes but require a license for commercial use. You might also be interested in the various postings and articles published by Michael Erlewine. A wide range of issues is discussed at length in the forums there, and the shift in usage from Helicon to Zerene over time has been striking. Thank you for contacting us by email and pointing us to this thread.įor in-depth technical comparison of Helicon Focus and Zerene Stacker, I'll point you to Yet for the possibility I might sell some, I have to shell out more $$. Although, I don't currently sell many photos, in the future I may. Their site indicates the professional version is for those who sells photos? What? I am really confused why the differentiate that way. Professional version is much more than the personal version. ![]() Also, is helicon lite adequate for most images?Īlso curious about Zerene's pricing. Just curious on anybody's experience with Zerene vs helicon focus. With your permission, I would like to show your photos on this thread to my camera club so they can see 1) some wonderful photos and 2) how Helicon works. I bought the PRO version when it came on the market and regularly update -freely- the program ! Of course, the "lifetime" version is more expensive, but it all depend on you needs. ![]() ![]() I don't use Helicon that often, but do you have to pay an annual fee? I guess this distortion has another "shape" than the one you get by focussing step by step from the nearest point of the object to the farthest one ! In any case, even if you use a rail to move the whole combo forward (while NOT rotating the focussing ring), there will be some distortion. Helicon Focus apparently only uses the SHARPEST part of each image and stack it with the SHARPEST part of the previous/next image ! Can you elaborate about this or does Helicon compensate. I have always thought that when you rotate the focus ring with a macro lens the "size" of the object changes. I have a question about using the macro lens in a fixed position and rotating the focus ring in Helicon. I forgot to tell you that your photos are remarkable. ![]()
